Autonomous Marine Systems Engineering Journal (AMSE Journal)

The AMSE Journal is an open-access, peer-reviewed publication dedicated to advancing the engineering, design, and practical application of autonomous marine systems. It serves as a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, engineers, and practitioners working at the intersection of naval architecture, robotics, control systems, communication technologies, and marine operations.

Current Status:
The journal is currently in its pre-launch phase. Submissions are not yet open. The editorial infrastructure is being established, and an international editorial board is being assembled. The first call for papers will be announced soon.

Scope and Topics:
The journal covers a broad range of topics, including but not limited to:

  1. Vehicle Design & Naval Architecture
    Hull-form optimization, hydrostatics, stability, resistance, propulsion, dynamics, hydrodynamics, structural analysis, materials, power storage, energy management, weight and balance, maneuverability, and control surface design.

  2. Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC)
    Path planning, trajectory optimization, collision avoidance (COLREGs), sensor fusion, navigation, fault-tolerant and resilient control, dynamic positioning, machine learning for perception and decision-making, multi-vehicle coordination, swarm control, obstacle detection, real-time state estimation, and human-machine interface (HMI).

  3. Communication & Cyber-Physical Systems
    Acoustic, radio, and optical communication, multi-modal communication switching, communication-aware path planning, bandwidth-efficient and latency-aware protocols, cybersecurity for autonomous marine systems, digital twins, co-simulation, cloud-fog-edge computing architectures, human-robot interaction, and software architectures.

  4. Safety, Risk & Regulatory Compliance
    Formal safety assessment (FSA), hazard identification, risk analysis, MASS regulations, compliance, testing, certification, assurance, and human factors in autonomous operations.

  5. Operational & Environmental Applications
    Environmental monitoring, offshore and subsea operations, search, rescue, disaster response, fleet coordination, swarm operations, and marine renewable energy.

  6. Systems Engineering & Innovation
    Systems architecture, integration, technology development, innovation, project management, budgeting, ethics of autonomous systems, and technology policy and regulation.

Publication Model:
The journal operates on a rolling publication model—articles are published online as soon as they are accepted. All articles will be published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, ensuring free access to the global community.
